slow going at high speeds

This has been one of those months that seem to jump by at warp speed. And yet, it seems sometimes that time is barely ticking forward, that progress in my small business is happening in inches when I'd rather jump miles . I am at once completely enchanted by the possibilities that are emerging for Dot & Lil and for me, and terrified at what they might bring. Sometimes there's so much to do that paralysis overtakes me, a complete sense of overwhelm when I consider the scale of the things I want to do to get Dot & Lil to the heights I know it can reach, but contemplate the minute steps that need to be taken to get there.

When I was in Miami recently, an adviser of mine said to me, "The reason building a business is hard is not because you aren't good enough, or your business isn't, or you don't know enough. The reason it's hard is because it IS really, really hard." That might seem obvious. It might make perfect sense and you might all walk around thinking it daily, but to me it was such a moment of realization and flooding relief. It IS hard. It's not just me, and it's not just you. Just a shared thought for those of you building businesses or projects or going after things you want.

One foot in front of the other, one goal at a time, and big dreams for my small business. Slow going at high speeds, and an ever clearer idea of where I'm trying to go.
